How do you trap errors when acquiring images with ADF on?

i have a case where there are no pages in the scanners ADF and the users gets an error message from the scanner, he clicks ok and DWT hangs. It is a Canon MX870 ser.

The error messages when acquiring images with ADF on are driver-dependent. For example, with some drivers, a message will be displayed telling you that there are no images in the feeder.

Please let me know the following things:

1. Does the issue occur all the time or just once?
2. What is the OS of the user's computer?
3. If it's convenient for you, please try the scanner with a different computer (with a different OS) and let us know how it works.
4. If it's convenient for you, please try installing a different driver of the scanner and let us know how it works.
5. By "DWT hangs", do you mean "the browser hangs"? If so, please check out this link:
