I have a customer that wants to scan in multiple types of documents at one time. The document types would be seperated by some sort of spacer page (perhaps a blank page?). Can I get DWT to recognize these spacer pages and split up the scan into multiple files?

Currently, Dynamic Web TWAIN does not support this. But I will report your feature request to our developers.

Thanks.

The customer ultimately wants the scanning solution to be able to determine what type of document each of the scanned page(s) are. Essentially, the user would load a bunch of documents into the ADF tray and I would be able to read some sort of property that would allow me to split up the documents into separate binaries and categorize them.

I'm thinking the best way to accomplish this is to instruct the user to use some sort of spacer page inserted at the beginning of each document. Ideally, when the scan takes place I could examine each spacer page I come across to determine the document type of the pages behind it . Perhaps the spacer pages are color coded or there is some sort of marker on the spacer page I could extract.

I’m not sure if there is a better way of doing this, but I would imagine this is a type of feature that many of your customers would implement.

Thank you for taking the time to consider the addition.

I agree this would be a great feature. My clients sigh out loud when I tell them they have to scan each document individually in order for the server to separately identify and process each one. Like the previous poster said, spacer pages seem to be a good option. I personally don't need anything more specific than a parameter that says something like 'split by spacer pages', then during processing each spacer triggers creation of a new file before being discarded.

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,

Dynamic Web TWAIN already supports blank page detection. You can use the IsBlankImage method to implement your requirement.

If you need any further help, please feel free to contact us.
