Hi,

we have dynamic web twain 5.2, asp mvc application on IIS 7 (win 2008 sever or win 7), browser is firefox 3.5.5.

We use scanning page in http and https mode without a problem (when using https we login with a certificate).
But when we switch the "require ssl" to true in IIS, we get the error. Before that it works even if we work through https! So no other changes other that this setting in IIS are done to reproduce the error.

We try to upload scanned image with
obj.HTTPUploadThroughPost(strHostIP, 0, strActionPage, "imageData.tiff");

With "require ssl" option set in IIS, we get scanning error: "Http process error", error code 2003. HTTPPostResponseString is empty.

We tried to play around with IfSSL (true, false) and HTTPPort (80, 443) properties, but that did not help to solve the issue. Currently the only solution is to not set the "require SSL" in IIS, but that is not acceptable for us so we must find the cause of the problem.

Any idea what we should look into? Or what is the difference with using https when "require ssl" is set and when it is not set?

Best regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,

The possible cause of the problem is that you didn’t have the write permission to upload the images. Please make sure that the write permission is graded to the specified directory of your web server.

If you like, you can schedule a GoToMeeting session with us via LiveHelp:

Thanks.

So if 'require ssl' is set in IIS, different write permissions are needed than without this option? Is that that you suggest?

Best regards,
Peter

Hi Peter,

The permission requirement for the uploading directory should be the same with/without the 'require ssl' option.

We did tests on our side and can upload images with 'require ssl' option set successfully. You can schedule a GoToMeeting session with us via LiveHelp so that we can look into the issue more closely:

Thanks.

Hi,

I've found out that with the 5.3 beta version of plugin posted in thread:

firefox-3-6-support-t5220.html

this now works. I've tried again with 5.2 and the development version that you provided to me in our support correspondence via email and I can confirm that this 5.3 beta version is the only version where this works.

The only problem left is with client certificate. We now have "require client certificate" option set for our production site. Users log in with the certificate and they select the option to use the certificate on the site, so they are not asked for certificate on every page request. Problem is that when they upload the scanned image with dynamic web twain, they are again asked to choose client certificate. Obviously the plugin does not use the selected client certificate. This is a major obstacle for us because some users of the web application use it mainly for scanning, and this really is a big problem for them. Is it possible to configure the plugin so that it would use the client certificate selected in firefox for upload of scanned files to the web server?

And another question, when will 5.3 final be released?

Best regards and thank you for all your kind support,
Peter

Hi Peter,

->Obviously the plugin does not use the selected client certificate.
I have confirmed this issue with our developers. Currently they are looking into it and I will keep you updated on this.

->And another question, when will 5.3 final be released?
We are releasing Dynamic Web TWAIN 6.0 next week. We will keep you updated on this.

Thanks.

Hi Peter,

Our R&D team has worked out an internal version which supports binding client certificate while processes like uploading. I tried to send you the internal version. But the delivery failed, please provide me with a valid email address.

You can reach me at: catherine@dynamsoft.com

Thanks,
