Error code 438 in Access when linking to new table

I've run into a rather strange problem. I'm using Dynamic Twain in an Access 2000 database. The database is split into two: the UI and the back-end. By default the UI links to the back-end in a fixed directory on the C-drive.

When I move the back-end to another directory and change the link, all of a sudden Dynamic Twain fails on the very first action (OpenSourceManager) with the error code 438.

However, this does not happen on all installation: I've seen the problem when using an Access 2002 but not on another Access 2000 installation.

The dll seems to installed correctly - no problems reported when using the Dependency Walker.

Any ideas
