Hello,

I have just upgraded to version 6.0 of DynamicWebTwain and when i come to test it i am prompted to install the ActiveX control (as expected). However, my code is then checking the document.all.DynamicWebTwain1.object property through javascript which is being returned as null/undefined. I am then obviously unable to access any other properties/methods etc.

The next time i load the page, i am once again prompted to install the activex control.

I have looked in the 'Downloaded Program Files' folder and the DynamicWebTwainCtrl.dll file is present and at the correct version. However, each time i load the page and choose to install the activex control a new Conflict.1, Conflict.2, etc folder is created and contains the same dll and the same version.

Since the last time i developed using DWT i have also upgraded to Windows7 (x64) and IE8. I am therefore not sure what change has caused this issue. It is not easy to re-install XP/IE7 etc.

I have tried running IE as Administrator and although the prompt appears slightly different there is the same outcome.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Thanks but i think i now have it sorted. I ignored the need to restart my PC and also had the wrong classID for the trial version.

Out of interest, why does the client PC need to be restarted following an upgrade of ActiveX control to version 6?

Hi Martyn,

After you upgraded the control on the server, the client side control will get upgraded automatically the next time the client access your website. There's no need to restart the client PC.

In your case, it was the wrong classID that caused the issue.
